Kori Engdahl

Kori has worked in the greater Fort Wayne area in obstetrics and gynecologic health since autumn of 2005. She holds dual certification as a Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Kori’s experience as a midwife and NP ranges from seeing clients at Fort Wayne’s Lafayette Street Family Health Clinic, to instructing undergraduate student nurses in the lab and clinical settings, to volunteering with St. Martin’s Healthcare in Garrett. From 2012 to 2024, Kori worked as a full-scope Certified Nurse Midwife, seeing clients in Auburn and attending births at DeKalb Hospital, Auburn Birthing Center, and later Dupont Hospital. Over the years, she has been honored to welcome over 600 babies into her hands as a midwife. Kori remains on staff at Auburn Birthing Center in an administrative role. Although attending births has been a special and irreplaceable part of her life, she has been looking forward to a transition to wellness and preventive care outside of the childbearing cycle.

“Listen to women” is probably the best way to summarize Kori’s philosophy toward caring for her clients. Her approach to midwifery and wellness/preventive care has been a mix of traditional (allopathic/“Western”) and holistic methods. She looks forward to adding a functional medicine perspective as well. The right approach for any one person will be guided by that person’s own goals and values. 

Kori is a longstanding member of several professional organizations including the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN); the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM); and the Coalition for Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana (CAPNI). She holds her Bachelor’s in Biology from Earlham College, her initial Nursing degree from Purdue Fort Wayne, and her Master’s in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University (formerly Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing).

Although she was raised in Columbia City, Kori now lives in Fort Wayne with her husband and their two children, as well as two cats and an aquatic turtle. She looks forward to introducing her children to overnight backpacking trips when they are older and ready! Meanwhile, her family will accompany her as she works toward her goal of visiting every State Park in Indiana, and hiking every mile of every trail in each park.
